Labor Day in the MountainsIt is labor Day weekend, the unofficial end of summer, a time for BBQ's, the outdoors, and travel. Greater Asheville has no shortage of events tinged with inimitable local flavor.

Things To Do
*The Lexington Avenue Arts & Fun Festival, on Sunday, September 6, from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM. This 8th annual event will feature 3 musical stages, performers here. Not to engage in hyperbole, but if you have not been, this is a must see, must be there event, as their website says "all local and all original".
The Citizen Times provides us with their Labor Day Weekend Guide. Events include:
*Shindig on The Green, Saturday, September 5, an outdoor gathering of mountain music.
*The 63rd Annual NC Apple Festival, in Hendersonville, 8 AM until 10 PM, from Friday, through Monday, with an array of events including, literally dozens of musical acts, and of course, apple focused vendors, and a parade.
Mountain Express comes across with their ongoing weekly feature, This Weekend on a Shoestring.
