Asheville: Guide to Fishing the Mountains

Trout season opened in 25 Western counties of North Carolina this past Saturday. The Asheville Citizen Times noted the occasion with this photo show from The Rocky Broad River.

Many sources reported about the impact of the drought on the manner in which the NC Wildlife Resources Commission will stock streams this year. In short, hatchery yields were down, and a greater percentage of trout will be stocked in the springtime this year, instead of over a whole season, including the summer.

Folks planning a fishing trip should check out our previous article on what the drought means for fishing, sportsmanship, and etiquette. Be aware, be fair, and give the fish a chance.

Guidelines for Drought Fishing Etiquette Much information, including some of the fine tail waters here and in east Tennessee. It would be fair to say that tail waters are somewhat free of drought impact.
